Friday night is supposed to be lower 30's, and that is my one fear. Planting outdoors has been postponed to Monday just as a safeguard. In view of the coming rain however (we're sure to get at least a little) I put some bagged compost (Cotton Burr Compost) and Top Soil on 5 of the garden beds today. The rain will help incorporate it into the soil that's already there. Here are pictures:
Love the sight of laundry in the breeze!
This garden bed got one bag of compost and two of topsoil:
"Back to Nature" Cotton Burr Compost:
Scotts Premium Topsoil:
These bags of compost and soil were from last year and had been moist over winter, to the extent of most of them having moss inside! I don't see why that would hurt the soil, however.
The composters – took the composted stuff out of the left side of the northern (far right) one:
The compost matter is in the blue wheelbarrow:
Added to the above garden bed, which was very, very low on soil. You can see the remnants of broken egg shells and whatnot. I am hoping between the rain and worms (I have yet to get) they will become more broken down and disintegrated.
The four garden beds with compost/ topsoil added to them.
The one near the house – lovely rich soil.
